CAMDEN COUNTY ' A Sunrise Beach man is behind bars for allegedly chasing his roommate down at a neighbor's house, wielding a kitchen knife and stabbing him repeatedly after cornering him in the bathroom.
Sean William Brantley, 36, is being held without bond in the Camden County Jail on assault, burglary and armed criminal action charges for allegedly stabbing his roommate five times during an argument that started at the residence they share but ended down the street at a neighbor's house. The incident was reported early Saturday morning at a residence off Lake Road 5-49/Trail's End Road. Before it was over, Brantley and his roommate, described as a 30-year-old white male, were taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the fight. The alleged victim was treated for multiple stab wounds to the upper body, neck and hand. Brantley was treated and released for injuries sustained when he was whacked in the head with the toilet tank lid by the alleged victim. According to police reports and court documents, the two men had been out drinking and returned home either late Friday night or early Saturday morning. The victim's girlfriend allegedly witnessed the two get into the argument. It is unclear what triggered the disagreement. Brantley is accused of following his roommate into the bathroom where the two were involved in a verbal altercation and a shoving match. At some point, the eventual stabbing victim yanked the tank lid off the toilet and hit Brantley in the head. The victim then apparently managed to flee from the residence on foot in an attempt to get away from the man he struck with the lid from the toilet tank. Brantley allegedly grabbed several knives and took off in pursuit of his roommate and chased him down at a nearby house where he had taken refuge in the bathroom. Brantley allegedly barged into the house, cornered the roommate in the bathroom and attacked him with the knives. Brantley then fled on foot into the night. He was tracked down and cornered a few minutes later by the Camden County Sheriff's Department and Sunrise Beach police. |
